Venture Southland is a joint initiative of the Invercargill City Council, Southland District Council and Gore District Council.
Venture delivers Enterprise, Tourism, Promotion, Events and Community Development services to the region.

Established in July 2001, Venture's unique model is known throughout New Zealand as a positive example of regional coordination and cooperation. Venture is funded through contributions from the Invercargill City, Southland District and Gore District Councils and the Community Trust of Southland.

Venture Southland prepares and adopts a Strategic Plan and annual Action Plan, describing all projects and activities to be undertaken during the next financial year. All plans are prepared for a public consultation process. Venture also prepares a comprehensive Activities Report and Financial Report every two months for the Board. All of these documents are publicly available on request.
